These Metal Frame Spacers are designed to evenly space 9 frames inside a standard 10-frame box, helping bees build thicker comb and improving honey production and harvesting efficiency.
Metal Frame Spacers for 9-Frames are installed along the top edges of a hive box to evenly distribute frames across the box. By spacing 9 frames in a 10-frame box, bees are encouraged to draw thicker comb, allowing them to store more honey per frame.
Thicker comb not only increases storage capacity but also makes uncapping and honey extraction faster and easier, improving overall harvesting efficiency.
These spacers are best used with frames that already have drawn comb. When used with drawn comb, bees will extend the comb outward, maximizing space. If used with brand-new foundation, bees may build cross comb, which can make frame management more difficult.
The spacers are designed for a secure, permanent installation, but they can be adjusted slightly during setup. By sliding the spacer up or down, you can control how much of the spacer sits above the frame rest to match your preference.
Unlike some spacer designs, these do not create extra gaps that can become hiding spots for pests like small hive beetles.
Whether used in honey supers or brood boxes, these spacers help keep frames organized, reduce the risk of rolling bees, and improve the overall efficiency of your beekeeping operation.
